The BGC Cape Breton has an immediate term position opening for the following:
Youth Worker, Full Time (2022-2023 School Year Term)
Job Description:
The Youth Workers supervises all the BGC Cape Breton youth programs and services and are under the direct supervision of the Executive Director. The Youth Worker helps develop, organize, implement, and oversee the day-to-day youth programming of the organization to meet the organizational goals and objectives. The Youth Workers ensure that programs and activities are scheduled in accordance with the relevant work plans and assist with the daily maintenance of the BGC Cape Breton.
Qualifications
Education and Experience

University degree in Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Community Studies, Human Services, Youth Worker or related degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Understanding of population health promotion and youth/adult education principles

Experience in youth programming and community development
-
Minimum two years related experience
-
Previous experience working with youth, families, and the community

A working knowledge of government and community-based programs and services that relate to the intended populations needs

Knowledge of applicable Child Welfare legislation

Current certification or willingness to become certified in safe food handling, WHMIS, Emergency First Aid and Infant/Child CPR

The ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule including occasional evenings and weekends

A satisfactory Child Abuse Registry check and Police Check

Access to reliable transportation and Class 2 or 4 license to operate 24 passenger bus
