Summer Students at BGCCB

This year, Boys & Girls Clubs across the country hired over 700 youth, thanks to the #CanadaSummerJobs program! Our Club was thrilled to have two summer students help us lead our summer day camp programs. #LeadersToday

Lauren Holloway and Riley Casagrade supported youth in both our full time summer day camp programs and our day camp drop in program.

These young leaders gained experience in program development, program facilitation, risk management, teamwork, youth development, managing group dynamics, problem solving, and report writing - among many other valuable skills.

It's programs like Canada Summer Jobs that allow the Boys and Girls Club to create leadership opportunities for young adults and foster important "near-peer" relationships between participants and leaders; when youth see other young people in positions of leadership and responsibility it signals to them that it's possible to become leaders within their Club and community as well.
