Letter To BGC Cape Breton Family: Adjusted Fees

Dear BGC Cape Breton Family,

As you know, the BGC Cape Breton board and staff work hard to keep our membership rate stable. BGC Cape Breton will again have to modify our membership rate to continue to deliver the same high-quality programs and activities you've come to expect.

The cost of providing exceptional after-school, evening, weekend, and summer programs has continued to rise, including but not limited to electricity, fuel, insurance, and certainly food prices. The Board of Directors has introduced a sliding scale fee policy based on family income.

As part of our commitment to providing high-quality programming, healthy meals, and a safe place for children and youth to grow, the Board of Directors has determined that it is once again time for us to adjust our afterschool and summer camp program fees to support our operational costs.

Effective July 1st, 2023, our after-school rate will be adjusted by $200. A meeting to register for the club will take place with our Operations Manager, who will fully explain the sliding scale process. Our summer day camp program will remain at $200.

We recognize that while our rates will still remain very competitive compared to other youth program fees, there may be families who will not be able to manage this adjustment right away. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact the club so we can help you navigate supports such as Jumpstart Grants or private sponsorship.
