Power Up!

Power Up! is an academic support program for ages 6-12 that helps kids develop positive study habits and practices at school, and encourages a life-long interest in learning. Participants are given the tools and environment necessary to set and plan for academic goals, and are helped along the way by volunteer tutors and mentors. #BGCC

Monthly Dances

Each month we host a dance for elementary school youth from 6pm-8pm and then for middle school youth from 8pm-10pm. These dances are supervised and are also a fun way for youth to spend time together and have some fun. #Otherprograms

Gardening Program

The WPYC Gardening Program is designed to teach youth ways to build a garden, grow fruits and vegetables, and then close up the garden at the end of the season. This program allows for youth to go outside, get fresh air and become more involved with getting their hands dirty. #Otherprograms

Whitney Peers

Whitney Peers is a culinary based program that involves a senior from within the community coming in and demonstrating how to cook a recipe of their choice. Youth will be taught how to cook the recipe, therefore improving upon their culinary skills. From meatballs to macaroons, this program is sure to offer our youth a cooking experience they won't soon forget. #Otherprograms

Girls' Self-Esteem Program

The Girls' Self-Esteem Program is a program designed to aid our female youth in developing some of the necessary skills they need to become successful adults. the program will cover topics such as coping skills, identifying feelings, managing anger, effective communication skills, and more. This program will take place on Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm and will have two separate programs for the elementary and middle school youth. Island Chiropractic - Toiletries for Teens

Island Chiropractic & Family Wellness's "Toiletries for Teens" continues until the end of November! Donations are being collected for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cape Breton Christmas Party. Each Year Mrs. Claus and her elves work tirelessly to provide all the fixin's for a traditional turkey dinner and Santa delivers necessity bags to all youth. This year our dinner will be on December 14th. Many thanks to Island Chiropractic & Family Wellness for thinking of our youth.

An Education....it's your Best Buy!

Congratulations to Robbie and Michaela who are the 2019 Best Buy scholarship recipients from the BGCCB-WPYC. Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada have a long standing partnership with Best Buy Canada to help 'help make every kid a kid of privilege'. The Best Buy Grade 10 Scholarship Program is a great example of this amazing partnership and includes a $750 gift card (for a new laptop with 5 years Geek Squad protection), $250 towards college application fees and $4000 towards their post secondary education.
