Legacy Leaders

Our new Legacy Leaders Program is teaching youth about starting and maintaining a community vegetable garden. In addition to addressing food security and promoting healthy eating this program will also provide part time employment during the summer months for teen leaders. The youth together with staff and volunteers have successfully learned about how to start and maintain a garden and have already planted various seeds. Youth are learning about favorable watering times and maintenance of the garden beds. #BGCC

WPYC Basketball Program

This program is typically offered once a week during our after school program. This program consists of basketball drills and creative games followed by mini basketball games to allow youth to engage themselves in the sport of basketball. The goal of this program is to build physical stamina in our youth by encouraging healthy and active lifestyles. Working as a team is an important outcome of this program along with building individual skills in basketball. #afterschoolprogram

BGCC Kid Food Nation

Kid Food Nation is a Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada national program that aims to improve children's healthy eating by teaching food skills and enhancing food literacy in a fun and interactive after-school club program. The eight week program provides a new theme each week that builds on prior weeks' knowledge and skills and encourages participants to develop confidence in their ability to cook and create healthy meals on their own. This program is offered to youth ages 8-11 and is ran twice during the school year. #BGCC

Our summer registration is happening until the end of may and we are anticipating around 60 youth to be enrolled in our summer program. We have many great activities planned for them, including two camping trips to Cheticamp Island. Each day the youth have outdoor adventures, recreational activities such as our Jays Care Program, Jr. NBA Program along with trips to the beach and the splash pad at Open Hearth Park. Our summer programs would not be possible without the support of National Boys & Girls Clubs grants like Cool Moves and Power up as well as the many businesses whose fencing signs line our outdoor recreation area.

Kid of Privilege

Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada is proud to launch a new public service announcement that demonstrates the crucial work our Clubs do to better the lives of children and youth across the country.
