Summer 2018

We had another successful summer here at the Boys and Girls Club-Whitney Pier Youth Club. This summer we did a lot of fun activities such as: going to the beach, going to various playgrounds, playing sports, going to Open Hearth Park, Neville Park, Glace Bay Water Park and much more. We did our annual camping trip to Cheticamp with 30 youth in July and 30 youth in August. At the end of the summer we had a Carnival Day where youth and staff teamed up to make various carnival games. At the end of the day youth were able to enjoy an outdoor movie which was donated by the Emera Centre in North Sydney. The youth and their families were served hot dogs, hamburgers and refreshments. The community was also treated to face painting, popcorn and many other activities. The youth also took part in this year's Pride Parade. This is our fifth year participating in this and the youth seem to really look forward to it. Thank you to the 8 summer staff that helped us run programs this summer. Our older youth also did a great job working together as leaders to help the younger youth.
